Agreement Works
Teaching consent through play:
A life skill every child needs.
Our Mission
At Agreement Works, we believe consent is a vital life skill for everyday interactions, not just intimacy. That is why we created Agreement F.I.R.S.T. - a consent game for young people that helps them learn and practice consent through fun, age-appropriate play.
Why play-based learning works
Children learn by doing, especially through play.
That’s why our consent card game uses real-life scenarios to help kids practise boundaries and communication in a way that feels natural, safe and fun.
Unlike passive online tools, play creates a “flow state”, a proven method for helping children build skills like emotional regulation and social negotiations.
Backed by research
Research shows that students who learn through card games are more motivated and perform better overall.
Agreement F.I.R.S.T – the game that builds confidence.
Our card game teaches five key elements of consent:
Freely given
Informed
Responsive
Specific
Talked about
These apply to everyday situations — from sharing toys and resolving arguments to navigating online chats and building trust with friends.
By practising early, children develop the language and emotional tools to navigate more complex social situations later on — with clarity, kindness and confidence.
Consent education should start early
Children learn through watching, listening and interacting. It helps them set boundaries, express themselves and build healthy, respectful relationships that last a lifetime.
That’s why teaching consent from a young age matters.
Early consent education helps build confidence and autonomy
Emotional literacy and empathy
Safer relationships and mental wellbeing
Why consent can’t wait
The ABS Personal Safety Survey (2021–22) revealed:
49% of women who experienced child sexual abuse said the first instance happened between the ages of 5 and 9
51% of men reported their first incident occurred between the ages of 1 and 14
These numbers show it is never too early to start the conversation. Play-based learning can help make consent part of everyday life.

Why Our Approach Works
Children learn best through play—it’s how they build understanding, confidence, and emotional intelligence. Our approach turns a complex topic like consent into something engaging.
For adults, it’s a simple and practical way to start meaningful conversations. For kids, it’s a chance to practise lifelong skills around respect, communication, and personal boundaries—skills that grow with them at every stage of life.
Learn, play and grow together.
Whether you’re a parent wanting to teach your child about body safety or an educator introducing respectful relationship skills in the classroom, our Agreement F.I.R.S.T card game provides a practical, helpful and proven tool to guide those conversations.
It’s simple. It’s affordable. And most importantly, it works.
Trusted by parents, teachers and wellbeing experts
“I use the Agreement F.I.R.S.T. cards as a therapeutic tool with children and have also found them highly effective with adults. They provide a powerful framework to explore healthy, consensual behaviour, while shedding light on the subtle and overt tactics that can undermine consent. This awareness helps individuals recognise manipulation, understand their rights and values, and develop practical boundary-setting strategies.”
Anne-Marie Newham, Registered Psychologist and Mental Health Social Worker.
